Annotate and describe the process of the 'Place, Press, Push' exercise and describe what it is beneficial for

The 'place, press, push' exercise is an exercise aimed at improving confidence between two performers and also being comfortable with leaning weight on each other and trusting that one will not hurt the other.

The 'place, press, push' exercise begins with one person lying flat on the floor, with their arms straight above their head and their legs together. Their partner sits kneels beside them and chooses a part of their body to work with; in this example, it is the thigh. The participant firstly places their hand on their partners thigh so no weight is leant on them. They then use their muscles in their arms to press down on their partner so some of their body weight is on the partner's thigh. The last stage is 'push' where they lean forwards onto their knees and push all of their body weight onto their partner.  If there is pressure being pushed on a place like the stomach, the person laying on the floor should concentrate on their breathing and remaining relaxed, as when the muscles contract, they are more likely to do damage and cause pain. The partners then may wish to swap over, so the person that was lying on the floor now becomes the person who is doing the 'place, press and push' and vice versa.

This the 'place, press, push' exercise can be repeated anywhere on the body (within reason) and is very good for taking on each other's weight gradually so there is no harm caused. The participants may feel slightly awkward or strange at first, but after they become accustomed to each other and realise that they will not be hurt providing the relax, the exercise is very fulfilling. I was partnered with someone who was much bigger than me, and we were both sceptical about this before doing the exercise but once we had tried the exercise on each other, we became more confident and trusting. I noticed that the more I relaxed, the easier it was for me to bear his weight.  From this exercise, working in pairs becomes much simpler as you become comfortable with putting your weight on the other person and knowing that they will be able to take it.
